Other coverage I can help with
Medicare is my specialty and where I spend nearly all of my time. But I hold a life and health license, and people ask me about these often enough that they deserve a real answer rather than a shrug.
None of what follows is Medicare. That distinction matters — if you want the Medicare side, start with how Medicare works. Here is what I can write — and I'll add more as my carrier appointments go through.
If we're meeting about Medicare, we only talk about Medicare.
Medicare's marketing rules require that, and I happen to agree with them. You shouldn't get pitched a life policy during an appointment you booked to understand your health coverage.
Everything on this page gets its own appointment and its own conversation. Tell me what you'd like to talk about when you book, and we'll cover that — and only that.
What I can write
Dental, vision & hearing
Standalone plans for dental work, glasses and contacts, and hearing aids. Original Medicare covers very little of this, so most people who want it buy a separate plan. I write these through more than one carrier, which means I can compare them for you instead of showing you one company's version.
Read the answerLife insurance
Term, whole life, or final expense. Final expense is the one people ask about most — a smaller policy whose whole job is keeping a funeral from landing on your family as a bill. Term covers a set number of years; whole life lasts as long as you do. I'll show you what each one costs before you decide anything.
Read the answerHospital indemnity
A fixed daily cash benefit paid to you while you're in the hospital, not to the hospital. Medicare has deductibles and gaps; this is one way to offset some of them. It is not a replacement for Medicare, and it is not a Medicare plan.
Read the answerHome health care benefit
A benefit designed to pay for certain in-home care services. Worth being precise: this is not long-term care insurance, and it will not cover an ongoing nursing-home stay. If you're trying to solve long-term care, tell me — I'd rather point you to the right person than sell you the wrong thing.
Read the answerWhat these are not
The fastest way to lose your trust would be to let you assume something that isn't true. So, plainly:
- They are not Medicare plans and they are not part of your Medicare coverage. Whether you have Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan, these sit alongside it, not inside it.
- They are not government benefits. Nothing on this page is sponsored by, endorsed by, or connected to Medicare or any federal agency. They are private insurance products sold by private companies.
- You pay for them. Every one of these carries its own premium, separate from anything you pay for Medicare. You'll know the number before you decide anything, and I'll tell you if I think it isn't worth it for you.
- They are not a replacement for Medicare or for a Medicare Supplement. Nothing here covers your hospital or doctor bills the way Medicare does.
Where I can write business
I'm licensed for life and health insurance in Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. I can only write business in states where I'm both licensed and appointed with the carrier for that specific product.
If you're outside those states — or the product you want isn't one I can write yet — I'll tell you straight rather than waste your time. I'd rather point you to someone who can help than take an appointment I can't do anything with.
Licensed in Kansas, Missouri, and Texas
Want to look at one of these?
Book a time and tell me which one you're asking about. If it turns out you don't need it, I'll say so.
