About Nick Heyse

I'm an independent, licensed insurance agent based in Overland Park, Kansas, and I specialize in Medicare.

"Independent" is the part that matters. I'm not an employee of an insurance company and I'm not limited to one company's products. I contract with multiple carriers, so when we sit down together I can look across what's actually available in your county and help you compare — which is the whole job.

How I got here

I started in insurance working with families on life insurance, and I kept running into the same thing: people were making Medicare decisions with almost no real information, usually in a hurry, usually alone. It's one of the few decisions that affects your life including your health care, your doctors, and your monthly budget all at once — and most people get about fifteen minutes of help with it. It hit close to home when I saw some of my own family in the same position as the people I serve. I couldn't sit back and watch people continue to get taken advantage of.

How I actually work

The first appointment is a conversation, not a presentation. I ask about your doctors, your prescriptions, your budget and how you like to travel. Then I explain what your options genuinely are, including the parts that aren't great about each one. Then you decide — and if you want to think about it for a month, that's fine too. I don't have a quota and nobody is standing over my shoulder.

Some people want me to walk them all the way through enrollment. Others just want the information and to do it themselves. I want you to have the freedom to choose what makes the most sense to you. My site is built so you can do either one — the calendar is there if you want to schedule a meeting with me, and the self-enrollment link is there if you don't. But either way, I am here to help.

I sell as Nick Heyse Insurance. I work with an upline agency that provides back-office support, but the relationship you have is with me.

How I get paid — the plain version

If you enroll in a plan through me, the insurance carrier pays me. You pay nothing for my help, and your premium is identical whether you work with me, call the carrier directly, or enroll yourself online. I'd rather you know that than wonder about it.

And to say the obvious thing out loud: I don't offer every plan available in your area. No independent agent does. Every page on this site carries the required disclosure, and it points you straight to Medicare.gov and 1-800-MEDICARE so you can pull the complete list yourself.
